Eighteen municipalities benefited by the Program of Palm Oil Production

The Ministry of Agrarian Development (MDA) through the Department of Family Agriculture (SAF) has selected the design of the IMA in Public Call for Projects for private non-profit organization working in the areas of rural development and / or social inclusion. The institution will make the diagnosis and mapping communities and family farming establishments of northern Brazil to prospect for productive arrangements with the culture of oil palm.

The selected project called the public will benefit family farmers from 18 municipalities in the states of Acre, Rondônia and Pará. Beneficiaries will be informed about the culture of oil palm and also on the program Sustainable Palm Oil in Brazil.

The coordinator of the MDA Biofuels, Marco Antonio Viana Milk, evaluates the selected project will be the gateway of family farming in the supply chain of palm oil in Brazil. "The goal is to advance and enter this part of the family farm that is excluded in the production process actually, and from the production of biodiesel ensure more income for these families," he says.

The goal is to identify family farmers with strong production potential of raw materials located in areas zoned for crop production of oil palm (palm oil) and, from that diagnosis and mapping, enable partnership with companies producing biodiesel with the support of the National Program for Production and Use of Biodiesel (PNPB) MDA.

The use of palm oil in biofuel production was set from the launch of the specific culture, in 2010, by the Federal Government.
